✦ THE RULEBOOK

Know the answer?
Think again.

You're not trying to find the first correct answer. You're trying to find a correct answer that most people wouldn't say first.

01. Get five questions

Each round gives you a category, a prompt and a clear definition of acceptable answers. For example: “Name one of the eight planets in our solar system.” That scope matters: Pluto is a dwarf planet, not one of the eight recognized planets.

02. Think beyond the easy pick

You have 30 seconds per round — timed by the game server, so refreshing the page never buys extra time — to type one answer. “Mars” is an accepted response, but “Uranus” might be a more surprising pick. There is no need to type an explanation. If you need more time, Accessibility mode on the start screen gives 90 seconds per round, clearly marked as non-competitive.

03. Receive a transparent server-verified score

Your answer is checked against a reviewed, finite answer set with approved aliases. Accepted answers carry editorial rarity values from 20 to 100 — a better score rewards a pick our editors labeled less obvious, not a statistically verified global percentile. If an answer isn't recognized, the game says “unrecognized,” not definitively “wrong” — and you can report it for content review.

04. See your five-round result

Add up each round's points for a score out of 500. Your game is saved server-side: close the tab mid-game and pick it up later with the exact remaining time. Then copy or share your score and try another set of questions.

05. Duel a friend on the same five questions

Finish any game and tap “Challenge a friend.” Your friend plays your exact five prompts without ever seeing your answers first — each of your answers unlocks only after they submit their own for that round. Higher round score wins a duel point; more duel points wins the match, with total score breaking ties. Then hit rematch for a fresh five.

What happens if my correct answer isn't accepted?

Every question in the live bank has an audited source, explicit aliases, a reporting queue, and frozen scoring versions. Unrecognized answers can be reported with one tap from the round screen. More about our fairness rules →
